The Client
The Research and Development Centre for a global consumer goods company which supplies foods, home and personal care products.

The Challenge
The Client organisation had formed a joint venture with a leading independent property investment company to develop the R&D Centre into a Science Park cluster of critical mass and excellence. The Clients property and facilities services organisation needed to change from a corporately owned/managed facility to a commercially structured science park with multiple tenants, whilst simultaneously outsourcing the provision of services.

PaCS were commissioned to develop a robust and sustainable strategy that would analyse the opportunities, risks and issues associated with the proposed outsourcing.

The Solution
PaCS developed a series of strategic work packages which analysed and provided specific recommendations for each key area of the property and facility services.

The Outputs

The strategy consisted of the following key components:-

  • The operating principles for the change
  • The scope of services to be outsourced
  • A workload analysis of the existing operation
  • Potential manpower saving opportunities
  • An outline organisation
  • The supply chain and its procurement
  • The role of the Client
  • The future relationship management
  • Risk assessment
  • HR strategy
  • Financial Evaluation
  • Transition plan

The Value and Benefits to the Client

This project provided the client with a comprehensive strategy that gave a clear understanding of the opportunities and issues associated with the proposed changes and the best way to harness the outsourcing for the advantage of the business.
